In Conversation with: Faith Tuhwe
Meet architecture student and talented photographer, Faith Tuhwe.
Where did your passion for photography come from?
My passion for photography began when I first picked up my mum's camera. It was a point and shoot. But I couldn't put it down the moment I viewed the world through it.
What would you say sets you apart from other photographers out there?
What sets me apart is I am weird, Lol in all seriousness though I haven't yet developed a style of my own but I am getting there.
Who inspires your work?
My work is inspired by a lot of people but locally I'm inspired by Steven Chikosi and Gaddiel (Memorylane Studios).
Where is your favourite place to take photos from?
My favourite place to take pictures from is the highest point i can find. I love cityscapes and landscapes.
Of all the photographs, you have ever taken which one is your favourite?
My favourite picture I took is the sunset of Namibia i took. I love this because it is the first sunset picture I have taken, see, I’m still learning.
What is the most important thing you consider when taking a photograph?
The most important thing I consider when taking a picture is my lighting and composition. I want my picture to tell a story and i use light to create an emotion.
Who are your favourite photographers and why them?
My favourite photographer is Mike Kelley, an architectural photographer in USA. I love the way he makes architecture come to life.
What is the one thing you can’t live without?
I can’t live without my laptop. Being an architecture student and photographer my laptop stores my life...literally
Given the chance who in the world would you want to photograph?
Does is have to be “who”.lol,i would want to photograph the Dubai skyline, but since you said who, I would love to photograph Beyonce, she is cool..
What are you most fond of about being Zimbabwean?
What I love most about being Zimbabwean is that we find a laughable moment in everything even the hardships. We are resilient.
