In Conversation with: Moses Chibwe
My name is Moses Chibwe aka Letish, I am a young passionate, talented self-taught photographer, I discovered my talent at the age of 16 years. I take my passion serious and mainly focus on helping young passionate photographers who are willing to learn new things under the creative world.
Where did your passion for photography come from?
Wow, awesome question, to start with I can say I am one person who enjoys learning new things under media. Back in 2009 I had a smart phone Nokia E71 this phone helped me a lot to discover my hidden passion. I liked editing photos using my phone. I would go on the internet and download new photo editing apps and master the tools before using it. My friends were busy taking photos using my phone and once they were done taking photos they would be like ‘’once you get home edit these photos for us and come with them to school’’. My classmates gave me a nickname M-Grapix. They believed in my works and they pushed me and encouraged me to take it seriously.
Where in the world would be your dream place to go to take photos?
Italy, I have not been there, but I have friends who are living in Italy. There is a lot of work to do under photography especially photo story telling. Old statues and those ancient buildings wow so beautiful.
What inspires your work?
Telling a story especially documentary photography, last month I was working on my street documentary photo series. I came up with ‘’MyPeopleMytownMycountry’’. Showing how people live their day to lives. Am proud of my country it’s about time people knew who the real Zambians are not just capturing beautiful places. We need to show the world that Zambia is one nice and united country with full of happy souls.
Of all the photographs, you have ever taken which one is your favourite?
A happy lady in lonely places, there is a story behind this photo. I was able to showcase my artwork to the world.
What would you say sets you apart from other photographers out there?
Never should you judge someone’s work we all have got different touch and eyes. The way I edit my photos is different from others it’s all about what makes you feel comfortable. Not to forget discipline and humble yourself and making sure that you deliver the works to your clients in time. Photography has taught me a lot of things am so Thankful.
What can’t you live without?
My Father God He brought me on this earth for a purpose. Not to forget my parents and my lady, these people encourage me to do better in life all the time. My laptop of course it keeps me busy because that’s where I do most of my work from.
Given the chance who in the world would you want to photograph?
Drake…. the man he’s a hard worker and inspires me.
Apart from photography what else do you enjoy doing?
I visit the lovely places to have a breath of fresh air especially mountains or playing video games and watching movies.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Discipline and Humbleness. These two are the pillars of the creative world.
